Undergraduate students from SPIRE’s partner institutions engaged in research projects mentored by SPIRE scholars at UNC Chapel Hill in our annual summer research program, May 17-July 23, 2015. The students also participated in weekly professional development sessions, a journal club, a GRE preparation course, and social activities in conjunction with other summer research programs on campus. The experience concluded with a Research Symposium on July 23, 2015 with students’ poster presentations and a keynote talk by Dr. Victor Garcia-Martinez, Professor of Medicine at UNC Chapel Hill.
