Former SPIRE Scholar Meredith Defelice Receives Teaching Award
Former SPIRE Scholar Dr. Meredith Defelice (Rosser), senior lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Penn State University, was awarded Penn State's George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching. She has also won the 2013 PSU Center for Excellence in Science Education Fellowship and the 2012 Paul M. Althouse Teaching Award.
Meredith has focused on developing curriculum that promotes students' active engagement in the learning process and support for learning assistants as part of their preparation for facilitating student learning in the classroom.
While in SPIRE, Meredith worked with Dr. Doug Cyr in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology and taught courses in Cell Biology at Fayetteville State University.
