Workshops

The SPIRE Program provides specific opportunities for Fellows to participate in professional development workshops. Often held on or near the UNC-Chapel Hill campus, workshops cover topics such as pedagogy, negotiation, job interview strategies, mentoring, collaboration, diversity and policy change.

Examples of workshops include:

• Effective College Teaching (Richard Felder and Rebecca Brent)
• Flash Animation (UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Journalism and Mass Communication)
• Computational Science Modules and Learning Resources (Shodor Education Foundation, Inc.)
• Faculty Search Committee and Interviewing (interactive workshop with faculty and deans from four premier undergraduate colleges: Oberlin, Macalester, Grinnell, and Carleton)
• Bioethics and Classroom Case Studies
• Grant Writing
