In addition to attaining faculty positions across many different types of institutions, former SPIRE scholars are successfully awarded research grants. Most recent grants include:

Antonio Baines, Ph.D. (Associate Professor, North Carolina Central University) earned a grant as co-PI from the NIH/NIEHS (R25) in collaboration with Ilona Jaspers, Ph.D. focused on increasing the number of diverse students going into Environmental Health Sciences (EHS)

Lindsey Costantini, Ph.D. (Assistant Professor, North Carolina Central University) earned a grant as PI from the National Institutes of Health, NIGMS Award#1SC2GM136527-01. IDENTIFYING NOVEL ACTIVITIES OF KSHV/HHV8 DNA REPLICATION PROTEINS.

Danielle Graham, Ph.D. (Assistant Professor, Fayetteville State University) earned a grant as PI from the National Science Foundation Award #2000260. Combating ESKAPE pathogens through discovery of novel antimicrobial and antibiofilm molecules.

Eric Stoffregen, Ph.D. (Associate Professor, Biology, Lewis-Clark University) – Idaho INBRE Research Grant, funding through an Institutional Development Award (IDeA) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under Grant #P20GM103408.
