SPIRE welcomes undergraduate students for 10-week research experience.
Students from SPIRE’s partner institutions were selected to participate in hands-on, mentored research, engage in professional development workshops, journal clubs, and social activities. Students will present their research at a final research symposium at the end of July.
Participants in the 2023 program include:

- Aaron Bonner-Wright (UNC Pembroke): mentored by Seth O’Conner in Biology
- Monique Dacanay (NCCU): mentored by Grace Stroman in the Lineberger Cancer Center
- Kayla Kaye (UNC Pembroke): mentored by Kate Reissner in Psychology and Neuroscience
- Kyndal McDougal (NC A&T State University): mentored by Rachel Walmer in Biomedical Engineering
- Dakota Watson (NC A&T State University): mentored by Zack Drum in Cell Biology and Physiology
