Undergraduate student, Marcus Sherman, was recently highlighted for his accomplishments in bioinformatics research and selected for one of 11 awards at the 2014 Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) held in San Antonio, TX.
Sherman is a participant in the NIH funded program Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE), directed by UNCP faculty member, Dr. Bob Poage. Sherman is mentored by SPIRE scholar Dr. Conner Sandefur and UNCP faculty member Dr. Ben Bahr.
Sherman interviewed for doctoral programs at University of Michigan, University of Kansas, UNC Chapel Hill, and Johns Hopkins. He’s decided to join the graduate program at University of Michigan starting in the summer of 2015.
