Six undergraduate students from SPIRE’s partner MSIs and a student from UNC Chapel Hill engaged in research projects mentored by SPIRE fellows at UNC Chapel Hill during the summer. The students participated in weekly professional development sessions, a GRE preparation course, and social activities in conjunction with other summer research programs on campus. The summer concluded with a symposium featuring Dr. Trevor Archer (NIEHS) and poster session on July 28, 2011 where students shared the results of their projects. Funding provided through an ARRA supplement from the NIGMS.
